Reflection for 5 April 2026: Easter Sunday, the Resurrection of the Lord

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!

Dear Marian Helpers and Members of our Marian Family,

Alleluia, Christ is risen!

Today is the day that changes everything. Ever since that first Easter day 2,000 years ago, human history, human nature, has been changed and we have been changed with it.

Today is the day that our hearts long for, the day that proves God’s love for us and His mighty hand, which, having conquered death and sin, extends not only forgiveness to us, but the gift of everlasting life with Him.

Today is the day when we know, with our whole being, that Jesus is Lord, a Lord worth serving, a Lord worth loving, a Lord worth giving our whole lives to. Just as He gave His life for us and was raised and glorified, we too in giving our lives to Him find that same glory and resurrection.

Today is the day when we rejoice in all the good things that God has done for us, that we have been given the gift of holiness, of God’s grace, of becoming heirs of the Heavenly Kingdom and partakers of God’s very life within our hearts.

Today is a day worth celebrating, our God is a God worth loving, and our faith is a faith worth following. May the joy and grace of the Risen Christ always strengthen us to live out our Catholic faith with courage and enthusiasm!

On behalf of the priests and staff of the Divine Mercy Apostolate and all the Marian Fathers in the United Kingdom, I wish you, your family, loved ones, and friends a very blessed and joyful Easter.

The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!

May God bless you now and always!
Fr Alex Pumphrey, MIC
