Don’t forget to give thanks for the graces you received during Divine Mercy Sunday 2025!

In her Diary, St. Faustina records a special promise given to her by Jesus. He told her to communicate it to the whole world:

“My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy” (699).

In three places in her Diary, St. Faustina records our Lord’s promises of specific, extraordinary graces:

“I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My mercy” (1109).

“Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment” (300).

“The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion will obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment” (699).

To receive these graces, the only condition is to receive Holy Communion worthily at Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday, 27 April (or the Vigil Mass celebration on 26 April) by making a good Confession beforehand and staying in the state of grace and trusting in His Divine Mercy.

By these conditions, our Lord is emphasizing the value of Confession and Holy Communion as miracles of mercy. The Eucharist is Jesus, Himself, the Living God, longing to pour Himself as Mercy into our hearts.

In addition, our Lord says through St. Faustina that we are to perform acts of mercy:

“Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy” (742).

“The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive” (1578).

The worthy reception of the Eucharist on Divine Mercy Sunday is sufficient to obtain the extraordinary graces promised by Jesus. A plenary indulgence, obtained by fulfilling the usual conditions, also is available.

CHOOSE …THE RIGHT WAY!

At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.” (Luke 10:21-24)

This Gospel passage gives us such an insight into Jesus’ prayer. It is a joyful prayer of praise inspired by the Holy Spirit. ‘Filled with joy by the Holy Spirit, he said “I bless you Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children”.

We are invited to become like simple wise children who do not have to pretend anything and become truly themselves.

In this context, I would like to tell a simple story of the wisdom of a young child.

One of the famous Polish priests for over ten years celebrated Holy Mass for preschoolers and their parents in one of the main churches in Krakow. During one of the homilies, he told the children how God beautifully created the world, and everything that is in it.

At one point, he asked the children a question: but who God created most beautifully, who is unique, wise, wonderful in the whole world? Unfortunately, the children did not know, so the priest prompted them, adding that the most beautiful creation of God is similar to him and is good, although he sometimes makes mistakes.

After a longer moment of silence, a little girl comes out in the middle of the church and boldly says in full loudness: Father, it is probably me …

The whole church burst out laughing, but this little girl who didn’t study theology told a very important truth. Man, each of us is created as good and wonderful in the image of God Himself. Perhaps you need such simplicity of this little girl, a little theologian, and see again this divine beauty within yourself and, together with JESUS, praise the Father for His beauty in us!
